Background
Game fishing is my passion! Having caught hundreds of Marlin, my biggest joy these days is to help other people enjoy the experience. If I'm not fishing in New Zealand, then I will be found in Tahiti or Cairns for the Big Black Marlin Season. With an amazing crew including Capt A.J. Barton - Barry and some very capable deck hands, we have the ability with El Donna to introduce you to a wide variety of fishing - from the fast moving Blue/Striped and Black Marlin to Broadbill Swordfish, Yellowfin Tuna, and Kingfish. Eldonna has the enviable reputation of having landed the biggest ever Striped Marlin in the world on Rod and Reel - 243.6kg! We have an amazing coastline and fisheries for you to enjoy and we look forward to meeting you soon!
Techniques
Generally we run a mixture of running Lures but where possible we will Live Bait which is the most exciting way to catch big marlin.

Went fishing on Friday, May 12, 2017

This was my first trip out chasing Marlin in NZ. We hooked up to a 100Kg Blue that proceeded to pull line and dance about. Capt A.J was brilliant with me (The muppet beginner). I was instructed of what to do, in a calm professional manner. Honesty? To start off, I was like a stunned fish looking at a big gold screaming reel. With guidance we were successful and I achieved a goal of a lifetime. I am looking forward to getting out for a repeat performance. Thanks guys.

Was exactly what we wanted, which is rare these days. Captain AJ talked us through things and delivered- we caught fish, saw heaps of dolphins. It was a great experience for the kids, but next time I might leave them behind!
Highly recommend El Donna and it’s crew to really show you what the Bay of Islands has to offer.

What a amazing trip, it was one of the best experiences I have ever had within my own country. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a action packed, full on day, Captain Lance worked hard for our group and put us on to the best game fishing experience we have all ever had.
Apart from the fishing, this man had a great sense of humor, was knowledgeable about the local area, and paid particular importance of everyone’s comfort on board.
From the first moment you arrived at the boat, it became obvious from the glistening shimano rods and reels how well cared for all the equipment was, and Captain Lance’s welcoming smile put everyone at ease, it was easy to see, this was going to be one charter with high standards.
It doesn’t matter if you come from New Zealand or oversea’s this is one of those experiences that should be on your bucket list at least once and like me you will be back for more.
