My family of eleven were able to go with Captain Stan, four at a time. His boat was fantastic, in great shape and most importantly fast for our grandkids. The fishing was tough, but Stan put our first half day on a 27” 6 pound trout and two others slot trout a slot red and several sand trout. The weather hit us hard the next three days but Stan was able to put groups on fish. Even a shark and an alligator that attacked a popping cork. Capt Stan is very kid friendly and introduced three of my grandkids to Matagorda Bay fishing. I chartered four half day trips with Captain Stan for my family. Stan’s boat, a 24 foot Trans Cat, was immaculate and very well supplied with up dated rods and reels. He had both live and artificial baits. On the first morning he put my daughter Abby, son-in-law, grandson and granddaughter on some great trout. Each of them landed some nice trout but my 10 year old landed a 27” 6 pound speck! The last three half day trips were very tough with high winds combined with low tides made fishing tough. Captain Stan worked hard finding flounder and reds in the most unusual places. This was our best trip with a fishing guide!  We got caught in the rain, but that didn’t change the outcome of our experience.  Capt Stan extended our trip, so we can get the full experience.  We caught plenty of fish.

Some days you can drop a line in the water and limit out. Some days not so good. We happen to catch a not so good day. Wind and other weather conditions were pretty much perfect. However water was off color and pretty ugly. Capt. Stan worked hard to find some fish and we found a few. All you can ask of your guide is a earnest effort to get you on some fish and we got that. Just wasn’t our day but a great effort by Capt. Stan Slone.
