Freeport, United States
- Background
- Captain David is a registered Maine Tidewater Guide and has been hooked on fishing since he was 8 years old on his first party boat off Atlantic City! He's been fishing ever since (ask his wife!), in the ocean and freshwater. Coastal fishing in Maine, where he now lives, is a daily habit! He has hired captains from Hawaii, the Gulf of Mexico, coastal Carolinas, and the Florida Keys over his lifetime – and knows a good one from a not so good one! As a semi-retired design/ build general contractor (40 years of running his own corporation), his new vocation is running fishing and cruise charters on his home waters in South Freeport, Maine.
- Techniques
- It all depends on what you and the captain are fishing for and what the fish are hitting on as to the technique and style he would prefer to use, saltwater and freshwater! He has always preferred live bait; anywhere in the water column where the fish are. However, he will also use topwater plugs, swimbaits, lures, worms, chunked Mackerel, and anything that will work and is legal! Fly fishing is always fun (especially for Stripers), as Captain David's got gear from a 3 wt rod all the way up to 9 wt, and all the flies, including some homemade! Striper fishing has become his specialty as he's constantly breaking his own logbook entries for the last 10 years as his understanding of these waters, tides, currents, and observing the wildlife has increased his skill set. It is time to share and teach people how to fish!
