I book with these guys about every 6 months. We do this charter because we found the boat to be the most comfortable around. The captain and mate are very customer oriented and attentive to our needs. Anyone can take you to bottom fish for 3-5 pounds, but no one works harder to put you on a truly memorable fishing experience. That said credibility is stellar and that is another reason we keep coming back. Captain Tony is my choice for Captain of the year

1. The night before the trip, Capt Tony called to see if we might want to cancel because the weather might not be good, but he would “leave it up to us to decide, but if we leave the marina you will be charged the full amount.”- All weather forecasts that we found reported good weather for that day-so we chose to go on the trip.
2. We were scheduled for 7-11, but Capt Tony suggested that we actually leave at 8 instead, not sure why , but OK, assuming he meant 8-12 instead.
3. Once we got to the marina, the Capt notified us that his Mate did not show up, so a friend of his would help instead-The friend stood and smoked cigarettes the ENTIRE trip.
4. Capt Tony would only allow us to put out 2 fishing poles, even though we were scheduled for six fishermen.
5. The boat engine was smoking most of the trip and obviously having mechanical problems
6. At approx. 1025, Cap Tony decided that we were going back to the marina. Over 1 and a half hours early!
7. When we got back, his friend informed us that he was “late for his real job” and had to leave
8. Then, Capt Tony informed us that he would not charge us the 20% gratuity for his friend, as if he was doing us a favor, but proceeded to charge us the entire amount for the trip!
My husband and I are both very familiar with deep water fishing and charters. We were both very appalled and feel as though we were taken advantage of.  We never should have paid him, due to his lack of service.  I wish someone would contact me from your company about this.  I don’t want other people to get the same treatment that my family received.  Thank you, Wendy Jones 989-640-5366

Hi Wendy Just wanted to reach out because of your bad trip. 1. You guys booked a near shore beach trip, they run from 8 to 12 for morning trips. The call the night before was due to a forecast of 4x4 at 20 knots. Even though it might be sunny and pretty on land it is usually very different on the ocean. We had cancelled the afternoon for that reason. When I explained this to your husband you said that you still wanted to go. 3. The mate did not show because all of the charter boats had cancelled their trips and the mate did not think anyone would go out with the forecast. We did only because it was a near beach trip Not a Deep Water Trip. The friend was a Captain from another charter boat that had cancelled their trip and agreed to come so that you guys could go out. I not sure how you kept up with whether he smoked cigs or not because he never left the Bridge of the boat well away from everyone. We never run 6 lines bottom fishing and less if the water if rough so that we don’t spend all the time untangling all the lines. 5. Yes we did blow a 20,000 dollar engine (sorry for that) but we kept you guys fishing with one engine, that was not in the plans. 6 If you are familiar with Charters you know that your 4 hour trip was Dock to Dock, all Charters are Dock to Dock, which put you leaving a little before 8 and returning around 12 noon. We are sorry that you feel taken because we took 100 dollars of the trip price. We were just trying to be fair with your challenging rough brown dirty water trip.

We have booked with these guys a lot over the past 10 years. We take our customers on these trips and would not do that if this wasn’t a first class Charter Boat. We know that fishing by nature has good days and not so good days but these guys are always giving it a 100%. Most trips are spectacular but we always have a great time on all the trips. Do yourself a favor and give it a go with Deep Water Charter, you will be glad you did, we are.

Booked early morning trip. The evening before called captain to re-confirm everything. Everything a go. He called back ten minuets later and explained he had a crack in a distributor cap. Did not know when it happened but wanted a new part even though it ran fine. Asked if we could change to afternoon as the part was being driven up the next morning from Lauderdale area. I am local however three members of the party came in from Texas (never deep sea fished) and we had to go that day so I accepted the change. Looking back should have gone to the office and tried to find a new charter. The part never showed up and Capt Tony duck taped and we soon departed. We had two mates and when I asked why was told that he was in training and this was his first trip out. I have owned boats and fished all over the entire east coast as well as abroad never had two mates. Did not have full fuel so we stopped on the way out. Waited ten minuets no service so we untied and went to another fuel dock. At that point the two mates got off the boat as they left sun glasses and/or phones in their car. They ran back and we waited another fifteen minuets for their return. Finally on our way at approximately 12:30 pm. On the way out Garrett (1st mate) started rigging gear while teaching Chris. As some of the novice fisherman where inside the cabin I asked to turn the ac on for them. Was told it did not work so we had no ac for the whole trip as advertised. While part of my party was inside they started making lunches and grab some beers. Chris came up to one member and said I wish I knew we could drink beer, can I get one from you. Told no, so just a short while later offered to buy one for $1.25. Again told no you are working we are partying. First lines in approximately 1:30 pm. During the course of the next hour it was told that the two mates had been out drinking and partying the previous evening and that is probably the reason for the change in times. Capt Tony had no backup mate for our charter. Caught four fish (2-barracudas 1-King Mackerel 1-false tuna) which we did take back to our guests and had a nice dinner. During some of the trip Garrett was relaxing and not working the lines. So near the end of the trip I was working the lines when we got our last bite. Lost fish in the first bite and run. Capt wanted lines in so he could make the run back just prior to 5:00 pm. When I reeled the last line in I got the bite on we lost the fish because of a poor tie, not a broken line. I know the difference. Garrett at this point went in to the forward bunks closed the doors and tried to sleep. I have never been on a trip where at the point of returning the mate was not cleaning all the gear and deck. The fish were never put on ice till we got back to the dock even though we had ice in the box. They cleaned the fish and it took about 45 minuets. Four fish really….. I paid top dollar for the experiences of the new family members from Texas. Fell very short of a good trip. Capt Tony should have been honest about the mate issue and made sure that I got the early out which I booked or helped put me on another charter. That would have been the correct way to handle the situation. I am confident what I am writing about as both mates talked too much about partying the night(s) before. I also don’t believe, and hope Capt Tony does not believe, that a courier would drive a part up when both UPS and FedEx guaranty 10:00 am next day delivery. I would like to see that next years trip (because this is now planned as an annual outing) can be compensated some what because of some of the misrepresentations and poor service. No issue with the fish as that is what it is. I have been on several trips where we don’t even touch a rod. That’s Fishing….............

Would love a response so I can plan next years trip.

We had an excellent time! The captain was very knowledgeable and put us on fish when other boats were struggling to find them. The first mate was very informative and appeared to have passion for catching fish. Overall it was an awesome experience.
