Went fishing on Wednesday, July 19, 2017

Took our two boys 15 and 17 on the 5 hour inshore and near shore trip. Captain Asheton was a great host and very efficient baiting hooks and helping us with our technique. We had lots of action with smaller sea bass and whitefish. This was fun for a bunch of Colorado fly fishermen not used to catching fish so quickly. We moved around and tried different spots catching a barracuda and a lemon shark. Saw a shrimp boat lots of dolfins and a couple of tarpon. Settled in the inlet next and hooked a spinner shark, tarpon both got away and a huge unknown fish that cut the line while we were bringing it in. Overall a fantastic adventure! Thanks Captain Asheton.

This trip was worth every penny.  Captain Asheton was great.  I had my two sons and Captain Asheton always had a pole in their hands.  We caught a few sharks and then went further out where we caught a great deal of sea bass and toad fish.  My boys loved it and were busy the entire time.  We are planning a repeat trip on our next vacation to Folly Beach.

We had an excellent trip. Captain Ashton did everything possible to help us catch fish. We decided to move offshore at his suggestion and found an area teaming with fish. We caught several species in the bumpy water today. He constantly re-positioned us to keep us on the catch and finally was able anchor on the area. There were other things that were above and beyond the call of duty.
Thank you for a memorable experience for both of us. We will certainly be back again.

friendly, kind, experienced, family friendly day. Capt. Asheton took the time to demonstrate and help you fish. Gave plenty of different options of what was available for the day. Gutted and cleaned the fish, Kept us on the fish every minute. Looking for a family friendly time, you need to do Compass Rose Adventures. Capt. Asheton is someone who you will feel that you have known your whole life. Wife, kid and son-in-law we all had fun. Thanks again.

Took us to 3 different locations.  Hand multiple rods out (7-8 total) and kept us informed of what we could be catching.  Always had the hooks baited and cast out quickly.  Great all around experience.  I would recommend it to everyone I know

During our recent visit to Charleston my wife, 15 yo daughter and I had the good fortune to get paired with Compass Rose (Cap’t Asheton) for a morning of fishing.  Asheton was prompt, the boat was clean and well-equipped, and we were on our way.  The first stop yielded some smaller fish and a couple of hits on the stern tackle that severed the wire leaders, but things went quiet.  The winds had prevented boats from getting out to the Nearshore Reef on prior days, but the day was quieter and Asheton suggested we give it a try.

The ride out was bumpy but not too bad, and a spot was picked.  Our first cast yielded a small fish, our second a baby cobia, and our third an 8 lb spadefish.  That was a pretty good start- and then the action really began.  A school of spadefish started congregating and 50% of our casts resulted in a hookup, with most of the others getting hits that we missed.  During the next 90 minutes or so we quickly had enough big ones in the cooler, then it just became catch-and-release.  The last few casts brought in a couple of good-sized sharks and a 34” redfish.  And we were worn out, probably having caught 30+ fish.

A great trip, and Asheton was both professional and personable.  Highly recommended..

Took my two son-in-laws and 14 yr old granddaughter on this trip.  We had a ball!!!! Ashton is great. He put us on fish. The redfish were too big to keep. At the end my granddaughter said she was tired but never got bored during the 5 hrs. we were out. I credit that to Ashton.
