Background
I've fished all my life. I grew up on a lake, my grandparents had a cabin in the Appalachian Mtns and a Beach House on the Gulf Coast. I have fished in a wide variety of places which I feel allows me to relate to anglers that come from various backgrounds but are new to Inshore saltwater fishing, especially fly fishing.
Techniques
My main focus is sight fishing. It's making fishing a little more challenging than other techniques. You are more or less hunting the fish and sneaking up on it until you are within casting range. Then without spooking it, presenting the fly or lure to the fish and watching it eat. With great challenge, comes greater reward. It's really cool to watch fish eat your fly or lure and realize that it just messed up! The fly rod is a great tool for this but spinning and baitcasting gear work just as well in the hands of skilled casters. It definitely takes a certain level of skill and some luck. It is after all fishing!
