Captain Chuck and first mate Mike were awesome! They were friendly, funny, and relaxed. You could tell both had a lot of experience and knowledge. Captain Chuck took us right out to a great spot where we caught tons of yellowtail! Then took us to deeper water for some Amber Jack. After researching other options on this site, I couldn’t be happier with choosing Dee Cee!

The captain tried hard to put us on fish. The Mahi we were hoping for were elusive but when we did find them the mate did a poor job of communicating resulting in two lost fish. The mate also had an attitude with the lady anglers on board. 5 out of 6 of us are experienced anglers.

Nina Lupini does not recommend Dee Cee

Captain Chuck and mate Gary were excellent. It was our first time and a great experience. Would do again. They did everything to help us get our big catch and we did.

Book this trip off the Internet. Crew was prompt courteous and although we had a tough day of fishing due to the weather the captain was still able to put us on a few mahi. Eddie (the first mate) was very knowledgable and did a fantastic job. Two thumbs up.

Let me start by saying that I was a little hesitant on going out on the day we booked (May 10th, 2016) because the winds were 15-20 knots. But I went anyways because there were no more days open on my trip. And I had carefully read reviews on many fishing charter websites and Dee Cee’s good reviews were what led me to choosing them. When we were out a few miles the crew talked with other boats who were casting for live bait - with not much success. Capt Chuck then made the decision to forego live bait and to continue on to fish with frozen bait and lures. At this point I felt a little nauseous - OH NO - this is going to be a BAD trip! But Capt Chuck knew what he was doing. He put us on some dolphins and we caught 18, 17 of which were keepers! I wouldn’t hesitate to use Capt Chuck and Justin again - we had the best fishing trip of our lifetime! You may pay less elsewhere, but you get what you pay for!

Dee Cee maybe old but she is a great looking purpose built reef / offshore sport fisher.  Big open cockpit and Salon meant lots of space for 6 plus crew so we were all able to move around nicely when we hit the fish and hit them we did.  Captain Chuck and first mate Justin did not waste a minute of our time and headed towards a good patch of Mahi Mahi in the unusually calm and hot November day Dee Cee provided a relaxing ride out to the fishing grounds via some live bait shoals to stock up for the day.  The relaxation ended when we hit the first fish and Justin worked tirelessly to ensure the Mahi were hauled quick and the rods were reloaded.  He quickly figured out who was a novice and who knew a little more to ensure everyone got the most our of their time.  Capt Chuck provided great feedback from the tower.  After taking about 18 dolphin we moved out to try find a Sailfish.  Although that proved elusive we pulled in some beautiful Yellow-tailed snapper, a couple of King Mackerel and just for the sport some Rainbow Runners, before heading back to port.  We hooked at least 3 shark but were unable to get close to them, another day who knows.  The 6 hours passed all too quickly but we will revisit Captain Chuck and Dee Cee the next time we are down that way.  Just take Ice, Beer, Food, sunscreen and a camera, everything else will be taken care off.

It was our first time Mahi Mahi fishing and we had a blast. My kids and I met Captain Chuck and Deckhand Zach at the Postcard Marina at 6:45 AM. They gave us a short briefing and off we went. As we made our way to the fishing grounds Zach took the time to explain everything that needed to be done to us and that it took team work to catch fish. We stopped near a weed patch and Zach caught some live bait for us to use that day. Once we made our way out to Captain Chuck’s favorite spots it didn’t take long for the fun to start. We quickly got onto a school of Mahi’s and we had as many as 5 fish hooked at a time. Zach was great and gave us perfect direction and we landed every fish we hooked. I would highly recommend the Dee Cee, the boat is big and comfortable, the gear is great and the Crew is top notch. I would fish with them again and would recommend them to anyone looking for a great day of fishing with a very experienced crew!

We had another great Mahi Mahi fishing trip this past Friday with Chuck on the Dee Cee.  Each time we go to the Keys to Mahi fish we go with Chuck.  He has never let us down.  Frankly, we keep saying that eventually we are going to get skunked, but it has never happened.

So, how did we do this time?  We limited out on Mahi!  We had more fish on our boat than any other boat we saw on the dock the day before, or on Friday when we came in.

Chuck delivers.  He is simply one of the best Mahi Mahi fishing captains in Islamorada.  Enough said.

Eric

p.s.  His mate Justin (call him Jason though as he really likes it) is also excellent!

p.s.s.  This is a video I made on a trip we did with Chuck in 2009.  It is now our go-to source of inspiration for our next trip.

Capt Chuck and his mate Zach did an excellent job in guiding us to catching 32 Mahi Mahi! They were determent to find schools of fish, they knew what to look for and though us a couple of tricks which resulted in most fish I’ve seen in a 6 hour trip. Zach, the first mate, showed us hot to maneuver each other and how to reel in the fish. Thanks Capt Chuck and Zach for a great experience, the kids will never forget it! The fish was filleted for us which just a cherry on the top.
