Went fishing on Tuesday, June 20, 2017

Nice boat.  Friendly, apparently professional captain.
However, the trip out was very rough and based on what was overheard between our captain and another captain when we came back in, the speed out of dock was quite aggressive.  3 of us got banged up and 2 were so sick we couldn’t make it all the way out for our billfish trip. The captain suggested getting a limit of redfish and going back in. I agreed.  When the fishing began, the captain and mate didn’t tell myself and two others.  Almost all of the fishing was done before 3 of us (capable of fishing)came out of the cabin.  We returned to dock before a day was spent but we were charged a full day.  When we all got together and pieced together the events of the day, we felt like we got ripped off and disrespected.
I feel like an idiot now.  The way it was all handled I couldn’t believe he charged us a full day.  We all wondered how a slower speed would have impacted our desire to go further out.  It ruined offshore fishing for a couple of our group. Sad

Thanks for your feedback Doug, I appreciate your acknowledgement of our having a nice boat and professionalism because those are things that we feel strongly about. We work hard to insure that our customers have a great time and I am truly sorry that you and your group suffered from motion sickness, unfortunately it happens.
I would like to address your concerns. First, that it was rough and I drove the boat aggressively. The seas were 3-4 ft which is your typical day in the Gulf of Mexico, not flat calm but definitely not considered rough. There were no small craft advisories or storms in our area. If you overheard us talking, then you would have heard us say it isn’t very rough. Our number one priority is the safety of our customers and second is not tearing our boat up.
Second, we came in early at your request, not because I recommended it. It was, however, my suggestion to at least catch a limit of red snapper before going in since we were only 2 miles from a good spot. One gentleman in your party stayed outside and fished while the rest of your party were less than 10 ft away in the cabin. I cannot force you to fish.
You were charged full price because you reserved a 12 hour bill fishing trip on my calendar during the busiest month of the year. Bill fishing requires quite a bit more preparation, therefore it costs more. What you probably don’t realize is the time and cost of freshly rigged ballyhoo, 200 lbs ice, fuel and time involved in just getting you offshore.
We, like many charters, offer half day trips as well. Great for first timers!
At the end of the trip you shook my hand, thanked me and gave me $100 tip. You and your family are smiling in the picture with your fish. Again, I am sorry most of you were sick during the trip.  I know that can be miserable and ruin what you all hoped was going to be a great time for all.
