My 15 year old son and I had a great time fishing with Captain John.  He is very patient and took us to several spots on the bay.  We were fortunate enough to land a few fish today even though a lot of boats were coming up empty.  We will definitely be back on the water with John in the future….perhaps for some fly Fishing!

My son Jordan and I did a 6 hour fishing trip with Captain John today. This has been our third charter fishing trip in Florida -  and our best for sure.
The Captain was super friendly and made today a memorable experience for us. He is very experienced and has fished all over the world - my son learned a lot from him today. He worked hard to take us to numerous fishing spots in search for the fish we were targeting.
He ended up adding quite some extra time to our trip as fish started biting later in the day. We highly recommend Captain John and Backcountry Flats Fishing and will for sure use his charter again when we are back in the area.

While living full time on Marco Island my wife & I go fishing on our own boat 2-4 times per month,so when we go with a guide,it is to see new areas and learn new fishing techniques, as well as catch fish. John is an excellent captain.  He took us to an area we had never been before and showed us some new ways to catch and think about fishing we had never experienced before and he was able to put us on the fish even though it was a very windy and challenging fishing day. He was friendly, helpful. informative, and we had a good day catching a large variety of fish. His boat and fishing equipment are top notch.  I would recommend John to anyone who likes to go back water fishing.

Captain John is the best, nothing too much trouble, he worked hard at putting us on fish. Boat and equipment is top class, he is such a great guy, fantastic sense of humour, very knowledgable on the Everglades Area. We caught some big fish, in fact one so big it bit through my hook!
We had 5 great days with Captain John, he provided breakfast and lunch on the boat, drinks and humour a plenty. I would recommend everyone to fish with him, a wonderful experience, it went all too quickly….take care Captain John, one of life’s characters, we will rember the trip forever!

My day with the capt was pretty ok but not a terrific one…..I understand water temp in the everglades holds the key that either locks up or unlocks the bite BUT I thought we do a lot better than one beautiful black tip shark on a gorgeous day…to be honest I would have liked to have casted more to potential spots holding fish while the capt steered the boat & share his experiences finding fish in the areas we visited while using my personally made stick
and plugs….i love to cast and am expert in the craft but held back my desire since it was my first time in the area and deferred to the capt…....we tried trolling, and live lining bait with only the shark for a full days effort…yet I wont complain because it was my first time to the everglades and feel if a catastrophy didn’t happen then it’s a great day…..I can’t say the capt wasn’t sincere in his efforts but sometimes good intentions arent what we pay for.

I took my son and nephew (both 15 years old) on a 1/2 day trip with Captain John and we had the time of our lives. Captain John is exceptionally knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly patient. As you might imagine, coordinating three people on a flats boat is not the simplest of tasks. captain John was so patient and accommodating. In terms of the fishing, one word - AWESOME!!! We caught a ton of fish to include an amazing Pompano. Most fun however was the numerous battles with the blacktip sharks - Incredible!!

Thank You Captain John - Already looking forward to our next trip!

Not only will you catch fish, you will have a great time in Capt. John’s company. John’s lifetime of fishing experience is evident while on his boat. You’ll certainly learn a new technique, or two, even if your an experienced fisherman. His boat is completely dialed in for inshore fishing and his equipment is top notch. Tight Lines!

Enjoyed a wonderful day in the ENP with Captain T. John recently. John is a knowledgeable, meticulous guide who understands how to make the most out what a day, and it’s tides, can give you. He and I covered many miles doing just that. John adds a wonderful personality, and a love for what he does to the experience.

John took us offshore to get bait first.  He filled the well with greenbacks and we scurried off to one of his honey holes to catch the remainder of the afternoon incoming tide.

We no sooner rigged up when I was into a dandy Red.  Unhooked him, rebaited, and bang… Another nice Redfish.  Next cast and was I was into a really nice Jack Travelle.  Then, once again… Very next cast - yet another big Red. I have attached pics of two of them.

I have to say, that was my best day on the water with John.  It was special because I always enjoy being on Johns’ boat, plus those kinds of days are what dreams are made of.  We’ve had some great days together, but that was hard to beat.
