We booked the 4 hour deep sea fishing afternoon trip (1-5pm) on our last day in Puerto Rico. We arrived a little before our start time and found out after arriving that the ocean wasn’t great but we would try it and he’d charge us half. We left the dock around 1:30pm and went out on the ocean for a little bit, turned around and came back through the mangroves and then back to the dock. We were done around 2:30pm but didn’t do any fishing and paid half. I know the captain couldn’t control the conditions of the water, but it would have been preferred if it was communicated earlier that day about the conditions and canceled and refunded so we could have found something else to do on our last day.

I had wanted to provide an extraordinary trip for my 2 young sons for thier first time fishing salt water.  I went the extra mile and reserved an extra amount of time and inquired about the possibility to create a trip for my boys to remember.  I asked the captain in advance if it was possible to accommodate our wants and paid extra for an entire day in order to ensure our trip reef fishing (multi species, with more frequent catches for my young sons) was possible.  At every turn my communications were met with one word answers but I tried to remain optimistic about the outcome.  Our captain ignored every facet of my request and showed up with only gear to troll for large game species instead of what we agreed on (smaller reef fish on medium spinning gear)  As we were waiting for him to fuel (an hour after our set departure time) I realized we didn’t have the correct gear and he wasn’t prepared as we had discussed during our our pre-trip communications. I decided to make the best and didn’t want to ruin the entire day of our vacation so we set out….
The entire time he was aloof, at best and had no intention that I could tell, of taking my input to have an enjoyable trip for me and my family.  It coat us dearly in time and a substantial chunk of an already expensive vacation to have my boys and I watch him not catch fish….  Overall it was an extraordinary disappointment and an extreme disappointment to what should have been a core memory for me and my family.

PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS TRIP . The captain did not interact. He did not tell you anything that was going on or what you were seeing. We did not get any snacks or drinks. One fish was caught the beginning. One person in our party of five actually touched a fishing rod.☹️ The sun was extremely hot and there was no place to get out of it. I wanted to go back after an hour and a half and was not brought back. This was not fishing. I am so sad to have lost a sunny day roasting on a boat and not fishing, forget about the $600 that I lost.(and no, the captain was unwilling to refund any of the money.) go someplace where you can actually fish and have a captain that wants to be there with you. I don’t normally leave reviews but I don’t want anyone to have to be so disappointed as myself and my family were.

If you are looking to do individual fishing, do not take this charter. It is a trolling setup only. The crew didn’t communicate at all, and attempted to charge us more. Docked at another location from where we left and most of our crew had to ride in the back of a truck to our vehicle.

The day was great with a good catch. It’s a shame the captain and his trustee decided to scam us when it came to the fish. With all the fish we caught, it was asked what to do with it. They gave the option to sell it once docked. They told me to go wait with my wife while they would get the fish ready only to sell it behind our back and pocket our money!!!!!! DO NOT RECOMMEND WITH THESE SCAMMERS.
