Cpt Ben took the 4 of us, including an 11-year-old, a few miles offshore for an afternoon 4hr trip. Once the run to the artificial reef was made, we had our lines in the water and got our first little guy pretty quick. The next two out of the water were keeper sized red snappers. The bite was finicky, so we moved to a new spot and tried trolling. The bite was slow there too, and we moved again. Our 3rd stop was most active bite, but we struggled to hook up. Perhaps only the little ones were trying to eat our baits. We used both live and cut bait, we trolled as well as dropped the baits on their heads. Cpt Ben worked hard to help us, taking time to talk us all through how to land the ones we did hook (shark or dolphin stole a couple of ours).
Everyone had a good time. We landed 3 keeper red snappers and had them for dinner. Even though the bite was slow and or weird, we’d fish again w/ Cpt Ben

I cannot say enough good things about this charter! It was a first time for me, my husband and our 11 year old son… and it was perfect! Captain was sociable and friendly, helped all of us learn quickly how to use the reels and how to reel in our catches. Knew all the great fishing spots and even cleaned and filleted our catches afterwords. I recommend Ben and Watts Charter Fishing to anyone and everyone! We had a great time fishing with Captain Ben. Very clean boat and equipment. Great service. Captain Ben was very attentive and gave great suggestions for how and where to fish. He tried different spots until he found where the fish were biting. We caught several different species, and had plenty of fish to take home. We had such an amazing day with Ben - he was very knowledgeable, fun and easygoing.  My 2 teenage sons who fish a lot thought he was perfect (helpful but not overbearing) and can’t wait to fish with him again!  We caught some great fish and while he was cleaning and packaging them for us he taught us even more about how to store them, prepare them, etc.  I won’t hesitate to book with Ben again when we’re in the area next!
