Unfortunately for these guests on that day the bite was slow it was slow in the morning where we caught 1 wahoo and 1 barracuda. This time of year in Bermuda it is important to cover ground to to different hot spots in hopes to find some fish. For this afternoon charter we caught a big barracuda at the beginning of the trip. I do not cut up big barracuda for guests as a safety factor. Some large barracuda have poisoned meat causing a secatera poisoning that can cause major health issues even causing death. These guests were actually fortunate because I still had half of the wahoo from my morning charter in which I cut up for them so they got to take fresh fish home. Usually on charters if they don’t catch edible fish then they don’t get to take fish with them. For this charter I bent over backwards to try to make them happy by giving them fresh fish that they did not catch. Fishing is fishing you can’t always catch fish. In fact I tell my customers that it is all up to them…. it depends on if you have good vibes and are lucky. I do the same thing every day and some days we catch and some days we don’t. Unfortunately for this group they showed up late for a 4 hour charter which cut our fishing time down. Obviously when you only have 4 hours to get out there and find fish you need all of those 4 hours. We apologize to our guests when they don’t catch fish and it’s the hardest part of our job. At least they caught a big barracuda that they had to take turns winding in so it wasn’t a complete waste. I’m sure it’s the biggest fish that anyone in
that party has ever caught. We did our best .
