What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Cape Coral, Florida for the first time?

When booking your trip, make sure you confirm the booking with the captain directly. Captain Scott Williams (from "Thrill of it All" charter company) confirmed the booking then canceled at the last minute leaving us to scramble to find a replacement charter. Fishing Booker is a great place to start. Read the reviews...make sure they are recent. Do some research of what's in season (if you want dinner!) And pick one and go with it...! You will most likely get a knowledgeable Capt. with great fishing experience. Cheers!

Captain knows the spots and taught my kids how to up their game when fishing. I was a true please. We fished on Jun 22. Morning fishing trip. It was getting hot. Captain offered to stay out and fish longer than we chartered. But the kids had caught so many fish they were ready to go back in. Great memories made!

I would recommend leaving early, or going in the beginning evening. It gets really hot out and the sun is brutal.

I recommend a early morning trip while it is cool out. Also recommend a multi species trip so you can have a great day on the water.

Careful of the weather, as we had to move days due to storms, and ended up being on choppy water near the end of our trip making snapper fishing difficult.

Plan a half day trip if you are taking your kids for the first time. This gives you plenty of time to catch multiple fish.

Wear proper clothing, a hat, sunglasses, and definitely sun screen. Being on the water is always fun.

Always be prepared for changes in weather and conditions. Expect fishing and you’ll be satisfied. Especially fun when you never know what you might pull out of those waters.

Take a guide out and learn. The fishing was not difficult to learn if you have any type of fishing background

Just come with an open mind. Fishing here is different than where we're from. Different fish, different tackle, etc. Listen to your captain and have fun.

From what our captain had to say, it's really great fishing, but we only caught one ocean trout in 3 hours of fishing. Mostly due to the storm I'm assuming.

Had a fantastic time with Capt Paul and Kelly! Caught a lot of small fish; the large ones just weren't biting.

Call Captain Brian there are a lot of choices and you really need someone who wants to get you on the big fish and is willing to move around to do it.

Be patient and know what you need to take i.e. food, drinks, sunscreen and covering and you will have a lot of fun.

Bring plenty of water and Gatorade it gets really hot out on the water. Sun block is a must and be ready to catch fish.

Spotted Seatrout fishing was great, but April 1st was a little early for Tarpon.

So many different fish to catch. Just cast your pole in and you will get a bite in no time

Find a good Captain and hope for the best. A nice day on the water beats a lot of alternatives.

As firsttime Cape Coral fishermen in December we enjoyed the comfort of the larger boat we booked.

Fish were not biting this day but just great to hang out with a fun crew and good friends.

Fun day with Captain Lance. He is friendly, good natured and knowledgeable. I highly recommend him.

Go out in a boat with a canopy / some sort of cover as very hot when inshore fishing.

Go with the right Charter to make sure you go at the right time and know the tides.

The 2018 red tide has really affected the fishing in the area causing some days to be hit or miss.
