What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Destin, Florida for the first time?

Make sure you ask what type of fishing are typical to catch at the time of year your scheduling your trip.

If possible visit earlier in the year. If you are only coming to fish contact a captain and find out what is in season. We didn't have the option so were somewhat limited on what we could keep.

This was our first dishing trip in Destin and it did not disappoint! Action packed and we caught a wide variety of fish!

Bring lots of cold water, sunscreen, maybe a shady hat to keep cool when the boat isn’t moving too fast, and an ice chest with plenty of ice in it to keep your fish cold on the ride back.

Enjoy yourself definitely bring an ice chest and if you don't have a kitchen while you're traveling try to book your trip towards the end of course the fish will stay good for a few days on ice

Wear layered clothing, it starts off a bit chilly but warms up in the afternoon. If you are not sure about motion sickness, take some before the tip anyway.

Check what fish are in season before booking, we booked on August 4th and Red Snapper season ended July 31st.

Don’t overlook Bay fishing as you spend less time driving and more time fishing. Also, a good compromise for those not sure about off shore or want to get the family involved.

We had a great time. Caught plenty of fish, the group was always bringing in a fish the total time.

Great fishing in july, but go early or middle of the month because getting closer to end some good fish go out of season.

Know what fish are in season before you book your trip we missed keeping some nice fish because they were out of season

We only booked a 4 hour excursion. I would recommend a 5 hour excursion so you don’t feel rushed.

Call ahead of time to make sure the right fish your looking to catch are in season or even biting. Bottom fishing u catch a lot but it gets boring quick.

Try fishing with Captian Justin Hall and the Maximus. No fish no pay!!! That says it all. He will put you on the fish you just gotta do the work.

Take a short trip on a party boat first then charter a boat. It will add experience making your charter more valuable because less time will be utilized trying to figure out what to do.

Schedule a four hour charter if you have first timers and bring plenty of snacks and water. Sun protection and glasses will make your trip better.

Know all the facts sooner than 2-3 days before the trip. Transparency should happen after you book a trip.

The gulf can be very rough. Make sure to take some Dramine if you get motion sickness it really makes a difference.

read some of the fishing reports and other information before you go. There is good charter fishing, pier fishing and surf fishing.

Spend the extra $$$ and go with a private party charter. Can't beat the red snappers in June/July. Wear a long sleeve fishing shirt and wide brim hat plus sunscreen. And have fun!

Listen to the captains instructuons and definatly pick up live bait if possible we were all first time ocean fishers and paying attention to the captains instructions was key to our success

Expect the trip to be longer than 5 hours. You may want to take food as they only have snacks on the boat.

Try to book just before the full moon in June and July. Even after you should catch a good amount, but they spawn and move after the full moon, so may take longer to hook sometimes.

Justin Hall, an experience fisherman and awesome trip. The boat is known as the maximus and you will have a great time.

Do your research first on Fishing Booker about the Captains and the boats. There are a lot of options of different types of boats and charters.

The water was beautiful, but they just weren't biting the day we went. I would not hesitate to give it another try on my next trip over.

The beach it’s really clean and really calm water and it’s a good place I been to other parts of Florida and Destin is the best place so far

Always check the season dates for the species of fish you are wanting to catch. We caught a butt load of trigger's but they were out of season.

Bottom fishing brings much more action and less time spent going to and from fishing spots. Plenty of trolling charters also available.

Dress in layers! when the sun is out it's nice and warm but when the sun hides it can get chilly in March! If you get seasick, I recommend taking dramamin the night before (not before the trip)!
