What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Wanchese, North Carolina for the first time?

If you are not already in the OBX I would recommend getting a room the night before as the whole day starts at 0400. But it’s worth ot as you’ll be on the fish in under 2 hours.

I liked fishing in September better, more of a variety of fish. But not the captains fault. It all depends on what's running.

Take a couple Dramamine cause even on a mild day you rock and roll. It’s easier to do it even if you don’t think you need it then to try to chase feeling bad.

Contact Back N’ Black for your charter and definitely use the fish cleaning services for your catch. Clean marina, friendly people, restaurant on site also. Easy to find and ample parking.

Pop up storms are prevalent in OBX around this time of year. Be prepared to either have a blast or have your trip cancelled due to the weather.

The marina has great food and the service was spectacular. Nothing fancy, but the food was superb.

Morning trips are probably the best time. Check the tides and avoid dead low or the transition period.

What a great place! Quiet and out of the way place to enjoy the day in the water. O’Neal’s is a great place to catch a bite to eat or buy your own seafood to prep at home.

Just go and have fun! Even if you don't catch your target fish, there is usually something biting. The trip itself is relaxing, just being on the water.

Bring sunscreen and sunglasses. Drinks and snacks. A good attitude and willingness to learn different fishing techniques.

Check on how the boats are doing with the consistency of the bite. Our captian Randy really worked hard to put us on fish, just wasn't a good day which is beyond his control.

Start with a shorter trip with an experienced captain (such as Captain Randy). These guys know the sound so well, you’re almost guaranteed to have a great time.

If a storm comes in and changes everything might want to reschedule because the water is too rough.

Lance told us that April is a pretty "dry" fishing month, but we just wanted to get out and relax on the water. Mission accomplished.

It's all about timing. Unfortunately while we were here the drum weren't coming in quite yet and the fishing was slow.

Be ready for a good time. This marina has everything, included plenty of boats and captains that will catch whatever is in season.

Captain Kenny and Brandon his first mate really know their business. The Carrisma is a great boat to fish from and we had an awesome fishing trip.

Don’t expect to catch fish as advertised as big game fish not caught in Sounds area! Mostly small fish and depends what fish are around on the particular time

I truly have no experience fishing here. Our planned charted was canceled due to mechanical issues with the boat.

What a great place to set out on a Sportfishing trip. The weather is great, great location and the fish are biting.

Big game fish are 40 miles out so plan an all day charter. Inshore fishing is fast and furious and fish are smaller. Fun nonetheless!

Plenty of charter options. Tiki bar was great. Filet guys were fast. Ships store was great. Friendly folks all around.

Relax! It’s fun even if you’re not hauling in as many as you think you are, and be prepared to use a lot of arm strength to reel in even small fish! Ha!

The ocean was very rough and when trolling we didn't even get a bite, we ended up going into the sound and individual fishing more where we did catch some but would suggest to do the all day trip.

Make sure you get the trip you’re paying for. If there’s inclement weather make sure you don’t end up on a trip that has no chance for success

Read different reviews and email different charters. My fishing charter with Duckhunter - 28 was excellent and Captain Hunter responded to mu texts/email very quickly.

We had a great time with Captain Randy and caught 50- 60 fish in three hours time. I would recommend fishing in Wanchese.

Could rain or storm at any time be ready for that. However good times with good people out of watches pier
