Lets Go Mahi-Mahi fishing
May 28, 2024
June is one of my favorite times of the year, as the seas are generally calm, we turn our attention to offshore fishing. Typically we’re trolling a variety of baits, including small to meduum size ballyhoo, strip baits, small lures and feathers. Over the next few weeks we’ll be sharing some tips that we use both trolling and “live baiting”. We look forward to fishing with you…. Captain Ron !

October Sailfish !
October 1, 2016
October is finally here and as the water temperatures begin to cool, the annual migration of baitfish along Florida's East Coast means it's time to gear up for the fastest fish in the sea, Sailfish !! Most anglers dream of catching a Sail and October marks the beginning of our Sailfish season. Charter boat captain's typically drift or kite fish, using live baits on the edge of the Gulf-stream in approximately 150' to 300' of water. With conservation in mind, most crews practice "catch and release" without removing these beautiful fish from the water. Recent catches include a mixed bag of Bonita's, Kingfish and a few Mahi-Mahi. Tight Lines, Captain's Ron and Howard Miami Beach, Fl

Shine On Harvest Moon
September 16, 2016
Our afternoon "all inclusive" charter was a team building event for a group of corporate exec's. The weather was beautiful, bright blue sky and flat calm seas. We spotted some birds working the surface and our guests started off the day by catching a nice Bonito and everyone was excited about what else they might catch. We continued trolling offshore and found some seaweed patches in about 430 feet of water, which was holding lots of small fish. (a great tip is to catch some of those live baits using a Sabiki rig) and as you troll by the patches look down into the water and try to "i spy" the Mahi-Mahi. (typically they'll be silver and blue when they're swimming freely). When you see the Mahi, stop the boat and toss a handful of free-bees and pitch a few on light spinning rods. If the Mahi are there it wont be long before the action begins. We caught and released several nice Mahi and kept a few for an amazing dinner and for desert we were treated to an incredibly beautiful Harvest Moon!

"Miami Beach September Sport Fishing"
August 30, 2016
Sport Fishing off Miami Beach offers year round fun and September is no exception. Mahi-Mahi are still in high demand, but catching them isn't always an easy task. While trolling offshore keep scanning the horizon for birds. If you see a Frigate anxiously working the surface you're chances are good there's Mahi nearby. Don't be fooled if you don't see seaweed in the area, troll rigged ballyhoo, small lures, feathers or bonita strips close to where the Frigates are diving and look into the water to see the Mahi "lit up" flashing bright neon colors of purple, green and blue. Typically this activity will be in 400 to 1000' foot depths.
