Catching the New Year red fish with New Orleans Style Fishing Charters. We have started the New Year with some cold temperatures and low tides . This has the red fish out of the marshes and piled up in the deeper water. We’ve had to do some fishing around to find the reds . Once we find them, they’re usually piled up and hungry. This is a typical winter time pattern (that is when we have a winter down south) . Fishing with shrimp under a popping cork or tight line with shrimp on a jig head has been the ticket to getting them to bite. I haven’t fished speckle trout lately since the conditions have’t been favorable for them . Once the water warms up a lil and the wind stabilizes the silver wonders should be eager to bite . I look forward to filling up the coolers with our share of those tasty fish! 2017 was a great year for us!! With lots of happy customers going home with memories of their New Orleans experience on the bayou. It was great to see so many familiar faces of returning customer. It was really nice to catch up with everyone . This year was also filled with many new customers like every year I look forward to meeting new friends . SEPTEMBER OFFERS AMAZING FISHING - WEATHER TENDS TO COOL DOWN A BIT STARTING THIS MONTH AND WE USUALLY SEE THE BULL REDS MOVING IN - BULL REDS ARE REDFISH THAT ARE 27" AND LARGER. REDFISH (EVEN THE SMALLER ONES) GIVE A GOOD FIGHT BUT BULL REDS REALLY BUT IT ON YOU !! BULLS WILL OFTEN HAVE YOU FIGHTING 10 - 20 MINUTES TO GET THAT BIG BOY INTO THE BOAT - BULL REDS ARE A BLAST TO CATCH BUT WE OFTEN RECOMMEND NOT TO KEEP THEM - THE MEAT FROM THE SMALLER REDS IS MUCH BETTER TO EAT. IF WE ARE RELEASING A BULL RED ( OR ANY OTHER FISH) BACK INTO THE WATER IT IS BEST TO EASE THEM BACK IN AND GENTLY MOVE THEM BACK AND FORTH TO GET WATER MOVING THROUGH THEIR GILLS. THEY ARE THEN ALLOWED TO SWIM ANOTHER DAY AND BRING THE ENJOYMENT OF REELING IN A BULL RED TO ANOTHER CLIENT ... BOOK YOUR TRIP TODAY !!
