Fresh Bahia Mar Yachting Center Fishing Reports

Hope everyone had a great start to the new year. Weather has been beautiful and the ocean has been very reasonable. And some of our caught species have been beautiful as well, and others not so reasonable. In more accurate terms the fishing has been very similar to last weeks. Some very nice fish on one hand and some difficult fishing days on that other hand. It has been very busy here with our fishing trips in Ft. Lauderdale@ Marlin My Darlin. We have gone every day. Several Wahoos, several Sailfish. One wreck continues to hold good sized Amberjacks. A few Kings and Tunas, and then tough fishing regardless of what we attempt. So here we go into the next day tomorrow morning with a reasonable forecast again and we;ll see what they give us. Backside of the moon and a bit cooler, here we go. Sunshine, Palm trees and bikinis. As we make our way to the end of 2022 we find ourselves completely booked out thru the end of the year. The lows in the upper 40s will be a memory as Friday and Saturday lows are forecast to be 71 &72 with highs of 79 & 81. Something to look forward to for sure. We have had some good catches and again as in the last report there have been difficult days. Some Kings, a Sail, 3 Wahoos, a couple of Tunas on our two boats on the 24th. Closed on the 25th Christmas Day. Out there this morning (26th) the 46 which had a great catch the 24th just pulled in from the morning's trip with nothing more than a couple of pulled hooks on a very few bites. Repeat anglers aboard both our boats this morning. Our 53 has three fish at this point. So tomorrow will be a good one hopefully. Full court press this afternoon will hopefully have some more fish this afternoon. Doing different presentations with live and dead baits today, several hours left till lines out. I easily recall when it used to rain here....at times it rained a lot.....As I write this fishing report for Fort Lauderdale I honestly cannot say when we had our last rain, or even a brief shower here on the coast. That said it will possibly rain some on Friday as we have a cool front forecast to push into South Florida. We like the fronts for fishing fortunes and will roll with the chance of rain to have the opportunity to fish this system. And do look forward to the front as our fishing has been erratic with good fish and memorable catches followed by tough fishing. So we have enjoyed good fishing in stellar weather and then had difficulty the next day, but, the bright spot, again in stellar weather. So when we struggle offshore we remember that it is widely held to be a better day than a good day at the office. That gets our vote, we love what we do. We do truly believe that as we just revisited that yesterday as we caught , but struggled, in calm seas and clear skies despite the rabbit's foot.. But today is another day and we are ready for what awaits as we head out the inlet to enjoy another trip. Knowing Mother Nature will smile on us again with this fantastic weather, and hopefully King Neptune or whoever is in charge down there will open the gate a little further and increase our opportunities to fish. December in Fort Lauderdale brings the fish; cooler weather pushes the migratory pelagic fish south for winter. Using the Gulfstream as a highway, pelagic these fish make our area of South Florida home for the next few months. Swordfishing can be good during the day or night, really any weather window you have to make it to the swordfish grounds. Sailfish can be targeted in winter by either kite fishing or pulling live baits; when the bite heats up, you can sight fish for these speed demons. Targeting sailfish is expensive. They say $**hidden content** is spent in the sportfishing industry for every sailfish caught. Sailfish and Swordfish are our two favorite species to target, they can be tricky but thats why we donit. December- May is high season, so if you have the date in mind, grab it before it's gone.

So Thanksgiving is here this week and all of us here @ Marlin My Darlin wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving with family and friends. The weather is sightly cooler as we get ready for Thursday's turkey (and fish?) dinner. We will be having the traditional turkey dinner at our house, had a fish dinner last night. There have been some very nice fish around with some memorable catches and as in our previous report there have been some difficult days. This is November fishing, nothing new or surprising. One day we find good fish, another day good numbers, and then we work through a tough day. November offers many species just offshore as the fishing tends to take place closer to shore with slightly decreasing ocean temperatures associated with the weather this time of year. So we gear up every morning ( we are busy, call ahead) and head out the inlet to see what the ocean will offer. Every day is a new day, and we are ready. Every day a different scenario, not the same old 4 walls, but every day is not palm trees and bikinis despite our finest efforts. We love what we do, always have and always will. Fall Fishing at Good Hit Sportfishing is targeting Sailfish, Swordfish and Mahi. The weather cools down, and the fishing heats up. We enjoy sight fishing for Sailfish and Mahi Mahi on light tackle crashing ballyhoo on the surface. Using strictly spinning rods so we can cast directly to the fish. For the Swordfish we can target them day or night with very good sucess. For the daytime fishing we use electric reels, because the fish are **hidden content**ft down on the bottom. At night time we like to fish the higher water colum. Fishing 50-450ft below the surface using, mackerel, squid, bointa and blue runners for bait. Glowsticks and small LED blinky lights work great for night time fishing. Remeber no light, no bite. I hope you guys enjoyed my rant, Captain Mike
