East Matagorda Bay Fishing Reports

Find a good guide because they put in the hard work of finding where the fish are biting.

Book with Captain Chappy. He is a great guy and guide. He will definitely put you on the fish. We will definitely book with him again.

It's the first time I have fished Matagorda in June, so I have no basis for comparison. This was a fun outing, even though the bite was tough. FWIW, I would do it again tomorrow with this guide. Very fun time.

The facilities and bay are nice. The Reds were a little better target than trout at this point.

Matagorda is known for great inshore fishing. Sunscreen fishing shirts, hat and get out there.

From what I hear fishing is always good here. Try to check the weather, the wind can affect the fishing.

I would recommend anglers fishing to book captain chad if you’re new in town or just want to get on the water with a couple of friends or family to fish

Good water. Plenty of variety of fish. Plenty of places to stay near by and plenty of charters to choose from. Just enjoy the experience and if you catch fish that’s a plus.

Live shrimp and just fish and don't expect to catch a bunch of fish otherwise you won't catch any.

Do some research on the fishing tactics and come prepared for the potential changes in weather.

I would recommend quality footwear for the boat, we chose to wear Keen Newport H2 Sandals as they were comfortable and gripped very well on the deck. Breathable thin long sleeve shirts worked out nicely and of course lots of waterproof sunscreen.
