Be sure to check out the boat you’ll be fishing in before booking. The SeaVee is awesome!!!!! Don’t be afraid to go to deeper waters on the longer tour. We booked 6-hours but could have totally spent the day on the water.

Maybe YouTube how to use open face reel, set the hook, and keep line tension so you not using your charter to learn the basics as a couple in our group needed to. It’s not difficult, but it is a little different than the freshwater fish like bass we were used to.

Typically in fishing, the fish become more active in the spring as the days grow longer, which triggers the spawn, and the water warms which makes the fish more active (fish are cold-blooded). The captain indicated that the spring/summer months are the perfect time for this trip; however, I would recommend reaching out if you have any concerns with the timing of your trip. I would also recommend morning trips as it gets HOT during the day.

For first time anglers booking a trip May - Sept. Prepare for the sun. Bring drinks that keep your body hydrated. Prepare with seasickness meds. The fishing is great but if someone on the boat gets sick, it can change the experience or shorten it. A little preparation will make it a great trip.
