Bucket List Giant Old Drum Fishing
August 29, 2017 Oriental 1 photo

Trip Summary

Giant old drum, redfish, visit the Neuse River and Pamlico Sound area in NC every August and September to spawn. Let me describe how landing one occurs. After the fish is hooked, it will run for about 100 yards screaming line. Only then can you begin to reel it in. Then it makes another 50 yard run screaming line. Now it is time to begin landing the fish. About 10 minutes later, after the fish has made you run around the entire boat, the fish gets landed. We will take a pic of this 40"-50" monster sitting in you lap and then release it unharmed.
