Trip Summary

Last week myself and a couple other local captains decided to go searching for some big fish! We left the dock around 8am and headed over to a popular spot to get some good live bait. The fish we are targeting are in some super shallow water and the bait you need must be heavy enough to make a good long toss. After a few throws of the net we had a full livewell and we started cruising the flats looking for a school to pop up. It didn't take long and when we spotted one, we were able to get a good position on them quickly and make 3 nice long casts and we were all instantly hooked up! We followed this particular school around for a couple hours and then decided to leave them alone and target some small snook. While they were not as impressive in size or quantity, we definitely put in a solid day of fishing! This type of fishing can be tough because it's not always clear what is a school of mullet or a school of hungry reds, so hiring a guide to get you there is the best way to go!
