Trip Info

The Bluenose arrived back at the Baring head 160-200mtr spot on the weekend. Although Monday was the best weather day, the fish were biting better the previous two days. They were mainly small fish in the 2-5kg size range.

There was a large kingi caught at Homes last Friday rumoured to be around 35kg. A number of other kingis were caught out on the south coast over the last week too.

Big tarakihi seem to be abundant as ever from 50mtr - 100mtrs out on the south too. A nice moki and snapper came in with the teris in our bin on Monday which was a pleasant surprize. Its the time of the year when the moki move out into deeper water so expect more over the next month. Still not too late to bag a good one off the shore if your keen.

There were some good hapuku and bass around too. The cook strait canyon has been the spot for bass recently and Karori has been producing puka. We caught some nice fish to 20kgs on the last trip

The snapper have ben a little bit quiet in the harbour but alot better out west. South of Makara for snapper and trevs close into shore seems to be pretty good at this time of the year.
