Trip Info

Summary

Offshore: We are using small blue/white Ilanders rigged with small ballyhoo on the inside out riggers and red/white Ilanders rigged with small ballyhoo on the outside outrigger. We are also running 2 skirt rigs on flat lines on the edge of the prop wash 30ft back.  Your spread needs to be perfect and running correctly to get the Mahi to bite. The King Mackerel bite has been best in the 85 ft-120 ft of water.  That water depth the water has been cleaner and clearer plus holding more bait over structure and drop offs. Pulling white/sliver Drone spoons on #6 or #8 planners with 50 ft 100 lbs floro/mono leaders. You will catch Mahi on this set up to.

Gulfstream: The Wahoo bite is picking up just to the north of us along Swansboro hole and points just south in 30 - 50 fathoms.  Black/purple Ilanders rigged with large ballyhoo on flat lines are producing nice fish. The Blackfin Tuna bite has been steady in 20 - 30 fathoms. Pulling small Ilanders rigged to small ballyhoo on outriggers has been working best. These lures should be set in the choppy water 100 ft - 200 ft back.
