Puerto Vallarta Fishing Reports

Puerto Vallarta fishing report

Trip Info

We started out with a nice group from Dallas at 7 am.  I had already plotted a course using my Terrafin account to find the blue water and thermocline breaks.  These guys wanted big fish and nothing else.  We motored out toward the Corbetena islands course 270 and had smooth seas for the ride out and back.  After getting to where there where chlorophyll and altimetry break we set up our 10 lines/2 teasers for trolling.  Just as I had guessed we had 1 marlin come up on a marlin magic and another on a black bart lure.  The blue marlin magic came through.  We had hooked up in less than 1/2 hr.  For the next 2.5 hrs the clients fought the blue marlin with several spectacular jumps and runs almost spooling one of my new avets 30 EW with 800 meters of line on it.  After landing the marlin we spent the next few hrs catching some pargos around the corbetena shallow areas.
We saw a couple of sailfish on the way back but no takers.
The water temp is over 85 deg. in most places and the marlin, sailfish are here in good numbers.  The dorados are showing up and should be in full swing over the next couple of months.
Inshore action has been good with small game plentiful .  Best bet for the month of July is 10 hr trip where you have time to fish offshore and get the inshore bite all in the same trip.
