Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report
So far the fishing in Naples has really been red hot! I have had a few slow days on the back end of the “blue moon”, but all in all I can’t complain. Snook, redfish, trout, snapper and black drum have all been chewing hard. We’ve even been catching a few pompano here and there. All in all a fantastic bite!
Naples Fishing Forecast:
August tends to mark the beginning of another one of those transitional periods you always here us guides talking about. However, when we usually use that term, it means things will start to slow down a bit. That couldn’t be further from the truth in this instance.
For me, this month marks the beginning of some of the best fishing of the year. Snook, Redfish and Tarpon are all on the move, setting the inshore angler up for some potentially epic days out on the water.
I have already started seeing big Snook moving from the nearshore wrecks and reefs back in to the shallows of Naples Bay and the surrounding area.
Redfish are also on the move. I’ve been getting a number of reports of good numbers of reds already being caught just north of Naples, so it should be just a matter of a week or two, before we experience the same. (side note: I have been seeing a few myself here and there, just not big numbers yet.)
Nearshore fishing for Tarpon should be picking up as well, that is if we ever get rid of that pesky west wind that has been haunting us for the last month.
All in all some great fishing to look forward to over the course of the next few months!
