July and August recap

Trip Info

Fishing throughout the month of July was a BLAST!! The seas have been very calm, so flat that you couldn’t tell where the sky ended and the ocean began looking at the horizon. There has been a great deal of variety in the game fish over the last few weeks. We have been starting out most trips trolling small lures, strip baits and feather lures, catching a variety of Bonito, Black Fin Tuna (Sushi), and dolphin (Mahi). After our customers have all caught a bunch of fish trolling we are then moving to the ledge drop offs, where we cut up the bonitos and create a chum slick and bottom fish. It’s been a lot of fun catching nice mutton snapper on the bottom, while the bull sharks have been showing up almost immediately in the chum slick. Customers are having a blast catching these huge sharks that are over 8 feet long.
We are still seeing a good amount of sailfish around and when we are live bait fishing with goggle eyes around 80-150 feet off Palm Beach we’re seeing 1-2 sailfish hits per day, even though it’s not the season. The south wind has brought back in the big weed lines which are holding nice dolphin.
