Trip Info

Summary

It’s that time of the year again on the Neuse River near Oriental, NC…..giant red drum.  Windy conditions have made for tougher conditions this year but we are still catch many world class reds on my popping cork method.  We are locating areas of bait concentrations and blind casting with good results.  Our fish are averaging over 40 inches with fish over 50 and closing on 50 pounds.  Look for this to continue and get better as we move into September.  The bite should last into the first part of October.  Be sure to start thinking about my 2016 dates, this giant redfish season is booked.
