Offshore on the SECRET REEF
Way Out Yesterday on the Secret Reef in 60 feet of water. WHAT A DAY IT WAS! Alex, Andy and me left the dock early and headed out. Andy had a fish on within 5 seconds of his baited rig hitting the bottom. It was non stop from there. We put over 50 Lane Snappers on ice in the cooler for a future cook out and two real nice Red Grouper. One at around 6 pounds. (Caught total around 20 Red Grouper )
And Look at THIS! I think this is a specie of Rooster Fish but I’m waiting on Captain Dave’s analysis before I am announcing it definitively. I’ve been fishing the Gulf for 30 years and never caught one of these ( Or Seen One ).
Ok, my Gulf Fish ID Book says it’s an African Pompano. COOL. Let’s see what Captain David Jr Menist says.
Oh Yeah, Alex caught it on the last drift of the day it was the last fish caught and we let it go.
Mid Day. a giant Sea Turtle came up for air right beside the boat. Andy and I almost lost it at the same time. Glad I had a clean pair of shorts with me! Surprised us, Don’t Ya See.
Till Next Tide. Tight Lines Dudes and Dudettes! from Captain Russ Walker.
