Great fishing on a hot day
Headed out with a party of five locals on Sunday. Weather was clear, winds were calm and conditions were hot and muggy.
Fishing started off slow with no takers for the trolled baits. We moved to the reef and bottomed fished while drifting over structure. We caught a whole lot of fish in the first hour, but nothing worth keeping.
Finally, as though someone flipped a switch, we started catching keeper size Red Snapper, and then got into a school of Spanish Mackerel. We tossed a bucktail jig at them and managed to get seven into the boat. We also brought in one nice Kingfish on the light tackle. Our tale of the one that got away did so right after his picture was taken, wriggling out of the guy’s hands before jumping overboard.
All-in-all, a really nice day out on the water.
