Miami/Everglades Fishing Report

Trip Info

There has been some great late season tarpon fishing still going on in the backcountry of the Everglades.  This is what I like to consider the second tarpon season of the year.  They will be in certain areas of the backcountry and a lot of the rivers that dump into the Gulf.  Best thing about these tarpon is that they eat!    We got in on some of that action last week getting them on fly and spin up to 60lbs.  We had some great shots on some fish in the 80-90lb range as well.  It has been hot and at times a little stormy, but the fishing has been pretty solid.  The baby tarpon fishing continues to be excellent especially with all the rain we have had.  The bait is starting to move out on the coast, which means each point and creek mouth should hold tarpon, redfish, and/or snook.

The trip of the week was on Saturday, when myself and other guides had the honor of taking out some local veterans.  What a great opportunity it was and looking forward to doing it again next year.  I attached a few photos that were sent to me from the other guides.
