Summers almost here!
We’ve some great cod and teri fishing on the sth coast on the 40mtr marks from Lyall bay to Sinclair head. There’s been plenty of gurnard in Fitzroy bay too aroun 20-30mtrs on the sand. There has been good numbers of small bluenose out from Wainui and a few biggies at the far side of the trench. We hooked a nice mako out there yesterday but it busted off after a spectacular aerial display.
Surfcasters got a number of spotty sharks on the w.end in Palliser bay as well as a few kahawai, redcod and spiney dogs.
White bait have been running well around the traps and kahawai have been prlific at the Hutt river mouth. All in all its been a good weather spell recently but the big southerlies are coming back over the next few days - bugger
The Daniel is off for its bi-annual out of water survey in Picton this week and hope to be back late September in time for the school holidays when we will be doing plenty of kids trips - $50pp
