Sailors on the water/Wounded Warrior Tri

Trip Info

This trip was through the SOW (Sailors on the Water) program through the Wounded Warrior Program.  Saturday started out a little windy but by the time we arrived at the fishing area the waves had calmed down.  I had two other mates who assisted with the trip (Carol and Gary).  One person was in charge of keeping the numbers of fish caught by each fisherman. One person drove the boat (me).  The other person acted as the deckhand.
My fishermen were Mike, Ryan and Jim.  All were with the military and were there to have a great time.  The competition was high and Ryan was the one who always voiced his opinion when he caught something he couldn’t keep…triggers and red snappers.  All of the guys fought hard to catch the most fish.  In the end, Mike won out with 28 fish on his list.  The others were close but Mike was a die hard fisherman!!

We arrived at the Fisherman’s Co Op area and gave our listing of the numbers.  We ended up beating out the competition.  Mike won a gift certificate to Bass Pro Shop for $100.00.  How cool is that!!  There was a very nice dinner served to everyone (picked from a list on the menu) provided by the Wounded Warrior Program.  The three fisherman went home with a large cooler of fresh fillets.  Everyone seemed to have a great time!!  Can hardly wait till next year!!
