Trip Info

The seas were almost flat!  We were lucky enough to get some live baits for the trip.  We could run my usual trip to the East and fished several areas.  We found a spot with bull vermillion which made for a fun, exciting day.  Snapper were also out stealing the baits.  We hooked up on a few but had to toss them back.  Triggers were also out in full force stealing baits.  Most would have been keeper triggers but unfortunately the season was closed.

The highlight of the day was a hook up with a very, very nice red grouper.  The angler bowed up and was reeling him in when the reel started taking drag.  He kept reeling and when he got the fish in all he had was the bait, which had slid up the line,  and the head of the big red grouper.  He wanted to jump in and attack the shark for taking his prize catch of the day.

Everyone had a great time and were experienced anglers by the end of the trip.  We ended up with vermillion, porgies and a nice scamp.  Wonderful day!!  I hated to see it end!
