Fall Fishing

Trip Info

Fun week of fishing!  I had Adam and Josh out on Sunday.  They are brothers age 6 and 8.  We fished a half day on the reef and produced a bunch of yellowtail snapper, a couple red grouper, and an assortment of other bottom fish.  They were very happy!!  My favorite trips are taking kids out fishing!  On Wednesday I had my regular customer Les out for some fun.  We began the day looking for tarpon on the beach with little success, unlike last week when we hooked 5.  Then we ventured off to the edge of the reef to drift baits.  I had netted mullet and some small spanish sardines early in the morning.  We drifted mullet from top to bottom, and put the sardines on chicken rigs.  We fished on wrecks between 130 and 160 ft of water.  We ended the day with 8 nice yellowtail snapper, 3 african pompano that we released, 1 nice grouper that hit a huge mullet on the bottom, 3 twenty pound kingfish caught on mullet fished about 30 ft below the surface and 1 lion fish caught on chicken rig!  There is a huge variety of fish right now, and lots of bait moving down from the North.  Lets get out and take advantage of some good fishing!
