Trip Info

This day was absolutely beautiful.  The Gulf was very flat and we were able to run about 18 miles to the South.  We hit several spots with no luck and then headed to another area where I knew there would be a variety of fish including vermillion.  We tried live bait and squid.  The fish were hungry for both.  This trip was the first Gulf fishing trip for Jake.  He wanted to catch a big fish and promised his Dad he would get any fish in the boat without help.  He had my lucky pink rod (don’t let the color fool you it works great) and was fishing with a live cigar minnow.  He hooked into a nice AJ (out of season) and had a great time pulling in this fish.  The dolphin is in the background waiting for us to toss the fish back so he could have a nice lunch!!  True to his word Jake did not ask for help.  His Go Pro (attached to his hat) ran out of juice but we were able to capture the moment of his big catch.

Everyone had a great time and took home some fresh filets.  Hope to see you both again to fish on the Ruthless!
