Trip Summary

Today we had a slight breeze out of the north east blowing 5-10mph, with this brings lots of calm clear water, allowing the fish to disperse scatter across the flats in search of food. We began working a shallow flat with small grass beds and sand pockets looking for redfish throwing 1/8oz weedless Down South lure Jigs. The preferred color of choice was victorious secret and magic grass, producing one slot redfish and numerous undersized reds. We then moved on to a bigger open flat with endless grass beds working Paul Brown Custom Fat boy corkies, the preferred color of choice was baby trout and brown tide, producing seven keeper speckled trout and countless others. As we fished up our final wade we walked a narrow shoreline with clay mud in search of flounder, only to find that it was LOADED with speckled trout and undersized redfish! We finished catching our limits of trout on 3/16oz Down South lure jigs with the color of choice being Candy Apple Red. All in all it wasn't the fastest way to get limits of fish but we did manage to pinpoint out some of the areas the fish were holding up in with the cold water temperatures.
