On Jan 18th, I had Tyler on board again as he was in search of an Indian River Slam (Redfish, Snook and Trout).  We focused our morning working artificials along the grass flats in the Lagoon to hone Tyler’s presentation skills.  Tyler’s day started by hooking some trout while working DOA Deadly Combos rigged with both DOA Shrimp (309 & 321) and the 3” & 4” CAL Shad Tails (351 & 371).  Trout caught ranged from 16” to 21”.  Having his Trout, we decided to move so we could work the Mangrove Shorelines in search of his Snook.  Shortly after arriving, Tyler hooked a stout 24” Trout.  With several other Trout following, I decided to switch up baits and went to the Egret Baits Vudu Shrimp (04 Natural).  On his second cast Tyler hooked into a 19” Snook.  Tyler was on fire catching 4 more snook from 12” to 20”.  With 2 of 3 species in the books we moved once again and began working the sandy potholes of the grass flats along the Indian River Lagoon.  Tossing the Vudu Shrimp Tyler got his Indian River Slam as he hooked and landed a juvenile Indian River Redfish.  Congrats Tyler!  At 10 years old he captured his first Indian River Slam.  I’m sure there are many more to come.
