Southern Slam In the 100'!
The day started out absolutely perfect no wind or clouds in the sky we turned out Jug Creek at the top of the island and made our way south to the flats of Pineland in Pine Island sound. As we eased up to our first spot visibility was insane with crystal clear water. I could see the occasional redfish on the flat a was beginning to get excited as things were lining up just perfect. As we worked our way down the mangrove line our first hit came from an oversized speckled trout at 22”. It was released and we discussed how perfect the tree line looked to our right so we eased our way over there and bam Snook in the boat! We were on our way to a southern slam. If you don’t know what that is. Florida has a bunch of different slams and a southern slam is when you catch a Redfish, Trout, And Snook all in one day. We only had one more fish to find and that was a redfish. But it didn’t take long. Before I knew it we had another tight line and pulled a perfect keeper size redfish into the boat! I couldn’t believe it. A Florida Southern Slam and all in about a 100’ stretch. I can’t wait to hit this spot again!
