Rough day offshore

Trip Info

The Catch
Seabass (Black)
Grouper (Gag)

While the seas were a little rough the bite was on! Black sea bass kept coming over the rail two at a time. We could only keep 25 per federal regulation, but we caught over 100. The vermillion were a little slow but we still had 13 keepers along with 3 gag grouper. In total we had 174 fish, not counting small grunts or lizard fish.  We were bottom fishing chicken rigs with squid and cut mullet in 81-90 feet of water, over exposed limestone outcrops. The rods were penn bait casters spooled with 50 lb mono and 8 ounce bank sinkers. The method was a controlled drift.
