Trip Summary

As if it were marked on their calendar like a holiday party, the King Mackerals are right on time. Every year sometime in November we get a big migration of King Mackerals that invade our reefs offshore of Port Canaveral. These fish are pushed from the Carolinas and Georgia as water temperatures cool. Like many of our guests vacationing here their destination is a warmer and sunnier atmosphere. They will stay about as long as a snowbird, usually moving back north sometime around April. The large schools of fish make for some of the most exciting fishing of the year, as action can be very fast and consistent. What is so cool about fishing for King Mackerals is that we use a technique called “slow trolling.” The Kings are primarily our staple catch however when “slow trolling” we are often surprised with other species of fish such as Blackfin Tuna, Cobia, Sailfish, Sharks, and Mahi. This is what keeps it so interesting as you never know what the next bite may be. Half day trips are typically very productive this time of year. It is a great opportunity to get offshore and enjoy some of our excellent winter time fishing.
