The Catch
Speckled Trout

We started the day before sunrise knowing that the wind was forecast to pick up into the double digits around mid morning. As we ran to our farthest spot the first two stops were relatively fruitless, only bearing a few small specks and catfish. Finally with the wind picking up and conditions deteriorating we settle on the edge of one of our favorite bayou’s. With the current whipping around an island in the middle and cleaner water I knew this spot looked prime. As we settled in the first few casts yielded NICE 16-17’’ specks. Knowing we were onto something we then hung around for a few hours capitalizing on the schools of speckled trout rolling through. We also had a few treats in our stay with a couple of STUD bull reds stopping by and giving us a great fight. Both were caught by 10 year old Wyatt, and both were his first reds ever! Congrats Wyatt! All in all a great day on the water.
