Big jacks and sore backs

Trip Info

The Catch

It started out as a Cobia trip, but my crew and I quickly grew bored looking for them along the East Beach.  We made the decision to head south to deeper water after some Amberjack.  It didn’t take long to find what we were looking for… We boated a few small jacks that were released and that must have peaked the interest of the big boys.  After about 30 minutes we had a limit of jacks ranging from 45lbs to 25lbs.  We had one hooked that would have probably topped the scale at 60+.  He snapped a rod in half and broke 65lb braid.  After fighting these reef donkeys you tend to lose interest in fighting all together so we headed north and grabbed a few trigger fish and white snapper before heading in for the day.  Great day on the water!
