Trip Summary

Yes that's right walleye migrate. The western basin where the walleye spawn is the shallowest. Therefore it is the first to warm to allow for spawning. After the spawn fish feed to replace energy used up during spawning.Fish are concentrated and feeding in the western basin. As the water warms during the summer months fish leave the western basin in search of cooler waters. Usually after the 4th of July the fishing is declining. So keep this in mind when planning your trip to the western basin of Lake Erie. There is a good video on YouTube called lake erie walleye migration. A program called GLATOS tags and does tracking on walleye. A great deal has been learned about the habits of walleye from this program
