Big Fish and a Ton of Them!!!
Well, I can’t say much more about fishing right now. This is some of the best fishing I have seen in a while. Let some of these pictures speak for themselves. We have been on the water just about every day this month and none of them have been disappointing. Not only are we getting some monster fish, but we are catching a ton of them.
Snook fishing is in full swing. We have had multiple fish over 35 inches on almost every trip. Most fish are being caught out on the beaches and near all of the major passes in the area. One memmorable trip this month was with John Arata, This crew hooked into close to 20 Snook, landing more than a dozen of them. I think the smallest one was 33 inches. Some of them we could never even turn towards the boat. Whitebait, Pinfish, and Grunts have been the baits of choice. Look for these fish to stick around for a few months to come.
Redfish have also been our go to lately. On the top of the tide we have been fishing schools of fish along the mangrove shorelines on the barrier islands. Most fish have been over the slot with a few pushing 35 inches. Whitebait has been my go to bait putting it under a float right up against the trees.
Trout fishing is still good but I have not been targeting them much. We are catching a few on whitebait while we are Snook fishing. These fish are big however pushing 25 inches.
Then there is Tarpon. I have not done a strict Tarpon trip yet. Our fish were a little late this year but they have now flooded the area. I will be running a bunch of tarpon trips in the coming weeks. We did get one this week while we were Snook fishing which was a little bonus for the trip.
Don’t wait to book your trip. I only have a few open days the rest of May and June is really starting to fill up. June is usually our best month to Tarpon fish in the Clearwater Area
