The Catch
Snapper (Red)

Fishing Report from the Captain’s Log: 7/5/16

Today was the Netherland family’s first offshore trip and red snapper was the target. We stopped at the Massachusetts first thing to catch some bait, and loaded up pretty quick thanks to the Marlin Hunter’s handy cast net (thanks again Rick!).

We headed offshore in a 2-3’ chop, slow and steady. The bite was really off today, we had to bounce around spot to spot picking up 1-2 at a time. We did catch some really nice red snapper, one 20+ lbs, but most were on the small side. I have to hand it to our anglers today, they fished their tails off and for first timers, they did really well.
We had a huge bull shark come up to the boat and snatched several fish off the hooks. We also caught another small Cobia today.

The wind eventually laid down some and made for a nice ride back to the dock. I had a great time and hope to see the Netherland family come back and do some more offshore fishing!

Tight Lines,
Capt. Jesse
