Triggerfish (Gray)

The Schumacher Crew
We left the dock at 6 AM this morning on the hunt for red snapper. We scooped up some live cigar minnows from the bait boat and headed south.

I was hoping for a better bite today, but it was more of the same. We had to keep moving most of the day to find the fish. We found a good mess on one spot, and even caught a keeper cobia, which was the highlight of the day. We’ve been catching short cobias this week, so it was exciting to land a keeper. Triggerfish are obviously flourishing, we were catching them on live cigar minnows which is a little uncommon.

The day started a little bumpy which didn’t sit well with everyone, so we cut the day a little short and headed in with the wind at our backs and a box full of fish.

I had a great time with all the guys today. We are already planning a youth fishing trip for next year, which sounds awesome!

Tight Lines,
Captain Jesse
