The Catch

Early mornings and late afternoon/evening trips have produced the best backwater tarpon fishing. Locating and landing backwater tarpon can be done in the afternoon, but the Florida temperatures get so high that patience is tested. An array of artificial lures can catch these fish such as a white jerkbait, GULP! shrimp, mirr-o-dines, and x-raps. My favorite bait to use on these fish is mullet, pinfish, pilchards, shrimp, and crabs. A 4/0 Owner Circle hook has proven to be the best hook to use and ,for me, has the highest catch ratio.
