From the Captain's Log: 9/23/16
The Fox family showed up early this morning and eager to get offshore to catch red snapper. We made good time out to the Massachusetts and had a livewell full of bait in time to watch the sunrise.
The bite on the first spot was a little slow. We managed to catch 3 or 4 keeper snapper before we hooked the big fish of the day. I honestly thought it was a shark at first since it ran out away from the boat, but it turned out to be a 34” red snapper.
We hit a few more spots and by 9:30 we hit our red snapper limit and decided to search for some mangrove snapper. We got anchored up right on a good spot, got the chum working and it didn’t take long before the red snapper and trigger fish started hooking up. We caught quite a few fish, but no mangroves.
We made a little run to the east to hunt out some kings. We found many, many jellyfish. We caught 1 solid king and several bonito before we called it quits. The wind died almost completely and we were baking out there, so we made pitstop at Ft. Mcree for a little swim before heading to the dock.
I had a great time fishing with this crew, I hope we can go again next season.
