The Catch

October is the prime month for the annual flounder migration, as they begin their move to deeper waters. The Pt. O’Connor area just so happens to be surrounded by the last inshore waters before they reach the gulf. This means large numbers of flat fish bedded down in the shallows between sunset and sunrise. I went out last night and stuck these solid fish in just over two hours, while wading a protected shoreline in knee deep water. At the end of October, the season closes for six weeks, so take advantage of the action while you can. 2-man October special for the next three weeks, wading with light mounted gigs.
